Artist Statement

  Statement

The images we create in our hearts and our minds seem to change us and our surroundings. I've noticed it happening more and more in the last several years. Interesting transformations are taking place around our house. Rooms are beginning to look more and more like the still life we've been painting and new paintings reflect the garden landscape and the ponds that we've created around our property. It's a chain reaction that is enriching our lives.
I believe in the power of image and I think it applies to the world at large. I feel that the violent and sensational pictures that we watch daily permeate and shape our lives and our culture in a significant way. For this reason I believe that we need new powerful, beautiful and healing images that change the way we imagine and create our world. I believe in art that is characterized by joy, beautiful design and a sense of mystery. When I paint, I celebrate life. Finding, creating, and living with the images that speak to me is turning out to be a great adventure and sharing them with others is a part of the joy.
